Kamo High School

Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo has a proud tradition of Kapa Haka performance and celebration of Tikanga and Te Reo Māori that we are determined to grow into the future. We are looking for tutors who can work with our roopu (Te Kapa Waikamo) and our kaiako to support this kaupapa.

The tutoring position’s main purpose is to prepare Te Kapa Waikamo to perform at Te Tai Tokerau Festival and Tokihi ki Tua Regional Competition for 2021. In addition we would expect that the tutors would be willing to support school events where Te Kapa Waikamo is involved - e.g. school performances, pōwhiri, special celebrations, etc.

The successful applicants will be expected to:

• Plan and organise tutoring of Te Kapa Waikamo.

• Work alongside the kaiako Māori to prepare a training timetable and schedule.

• Assist at events and prepare Te Kapa Waikamo for performances and competitions.

We are looking for tutors who have experience and knowledge in kapa haka and tikanga at regional / national level. Ability to develop items for kapa haka competitions and the ability to work with young people to develop their skills in kapa haka.
